This 3-family housing design concept is located in the Fairmount community in Newark, New Jersey. With the majority of the residential building stock consisting of older residential 2-3 family "bayonne box" style homes, the new residential building attempts to introduce a modern infill into the neighborhood. The three-story, 5,400 SF development features three units each having 1700 sf of space with 3 bedrooms and an outdoor roof deck. Because the new design sits on a narrow corner parcel, emphasis was put on creating an efficient and usable layout. Utilizing a consistent floor plan for each unit, but redistributing its components similar to tetris blocks, helps to create variation in both layout and building facade.
