The Senior Housing Concept site is located along the Livernois commercial corridor in the Russel Woods Neighborhood. The renovation of the vacant building aims to activate the existing 2 story building with housing and gathering space for seniors.
The building is approximately 10,000 sq. ft. brick structure previously used for ground floor commercial and apartments on the second floor. The basement is approximately 4,000 sf and will be used for resident storage and utilities for the building. The main floor will be renovated into a new lobby space with a flexible community room. Residential units will make up the rest of the 1st level as well as all of the second level. Units are carefully sized ranging from 400-630 sf to provide adequate and comfortable spaces for residents. A modern new addition for the building will be built making it possible for a more convenient entry sequence for residents as well as providing space for the creation of an elevator-a required element for the building.
As the design consultant for this development, Bold Studio provided conceptual design, planning, and architectural design services. Additional design partners for this project included Urban Alterscape and 4545 Architecture.
